A&L was founded by Alison and Louise, retired nurses with 60+ years of caring between them, and we work alongside a trusted network of healthcare professionals who share the same ethos, so the care never gets watered down as we grow.

We are not a big care agency. We do not arrive in uniforms or rotate strangers through your door. You are matched with a regular companion who comes by name, on time, and stays for as long as we have agreed.
Nursing experience behind every visit
Our companions come from nursing and healthcare backgrounds. Between our two founders alone, 60+ years on the wards: general, surgical, coronary care, district nursing, haematology, oncology, palliative, and orthopaedics. The instinct to notice, to listen, to reassure. That doesn't retire.
We are local
Between Alison, Louise and our trusted network, we cover most of Staffordshire, from Newcastle-under-Lyme across to Endon and the Moorlands villages and beyond. Wherever you are, you are matched with one regular companion, so you see the same friendly face every visit.
We are properly set up
Basic DBS-checked, fully insured for client work, registered with HMRC, and bound by a written service agreement that protects you as well as us.
The parts of the day that are nicer with company.
In your home, or out and about. We are not a clinical visit. We are someone arriving who you have come to know, who is glad to be there, with time to spend.

- Reading the paper aloud, going through old photographs
