Frequently asked questions
Do I need to know exactly what I want?
No. Plenty of people get in touch saying "I'm not really sure where to start." That is exactly what the free first chat is for. We will listen, ask a few questions, and tell you honestly whether we are the right fit. If we are not, we will help you find someone who is.
Are you a registered care provider?
No, and deliberately so. A companion service that does not provide personal care (no washing, dressing, medication or moving and handling) does not require CQC registration. We have set up A&L Trusted Companions specifically as a companion service to keep things simple and properly within the law.
Do you take on regular weekly visits?
Yes. That is most of what we do. Many of our families book us for the same day and time each week, so it becomes a small part of the rhythm of the week. One-off visits are also welcome.
What if the person I am asking about doesn't want a "stranger"?
Very common, and understandable. The first chat is in their home, with you alongside if that helps. We will talk about something other than care, have a cup of tea, and let them decide. Nobody signs up to anything that day.
What happens if you can't come for a visit?
If illness or family circumstances mean either of us cannot make a scheduled visit, we will phone you as early as we can, and the other of us will cover where possible. If not, we refund or reschedule the visit at no cost to you.
